Mentor Chair

Jack Giacomini

San Diego State University

Jack Giacomini is a third-generation hotelier and Founder, Chairman/Emeritus of Hotel Managers Group, LLC. With extensive experience in hotel development and management, he has led the successful establishment and operation of numerous hotels in diverse locations, while also contributing to hospitality education initiatives. Jack and his wife Sheila have lived in Rancho Santa Fe since 1971, cherishing their community roots.

Sheila Giacomini

San Diego State University

Sheila Ann Giacomini, originally from Chicago, made Rancho Santa Fe her home in 1960 when her parents, Anne and Paul Anderson, relocated there. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Jack Giacomini, in 1964, they settled in the Ranch, where Sheila was actively involved in various community associations, including Las Duenas and the Tennis Club board. With a strong dedication to family, Sheila especially enjoys spending time with her six grandchildren.

James Boyce

Jim is the retired CEO of RSF National Bank. He and his wife Bev are deeply dedicated to higher learning; even raising two children who became educators. He enjoys golf, travel, bridge and genealogy.

Bev Boyce

An experienced teacher, Bev taught school in 3 states plus English as a Second Language. Her son is a local teacher and her daughter is a college professor. Her interests include cooking, golf, bridge, travel and gardening.

Jim Ashcraft

Jim was previously employed by IBM and Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate. He has been with Ashcraft Investments since 1985. Married to Alyce, with sons, John and Tom.

Alyce Ashcraft

Alyce was an English major with career posts including positions at The Emporium and Intel Corporation. She is currently VP of Ashcraft Investment Company. Alyce and Jim enjoy their five grandchildren in Cincinnati and Manhattan Beach.

Tom Black

Tom is retired from California Safety Associates Inc. He's highly educated with multiple advanced degrees including a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering. His hobbies include walking and tennis.

Peggy Brooks

georgetown university

Peggy’s working career has included research jobs in university historical manuscripts’ collections as well as teaching. She has always juggled volunteer commitments with work and family life. She is currently serving as vice president of the RSF Historical Society. She enjoys bridge, dancing, reading, cooking and travel.

Susie Callahan

San diego state university

Susan has always been active in her community. She is currently an Area Governor for Rotary District 5340 and is a Past President of RSF Rotary Club. She and her husband, Eamon, love traveling.

Luis Carranza

UC San diego

Luis is the Senior Loan Officer at PrimeLending with over 20 years of experience in residential lending. He currently is an Assistant Governor for Rotary International District 5340 & Past President of Rancho Santa Fe Rotary Club.

Carol Coburn

University of California, Berkeley

Carol majored in Political Science with a minor in Humanities and holds a Secondary Teaching Credential She has taught World and US History, Constitutional Law, Sociology and Psychology, as well as having mentored students in an independent high school program Carol has also taught English as a Second Language to adult immigrants. Her interests include golf, bridge, swimming and reading and Carol has enjoyed volunteer work for a number of outstanding organizations.

Gary Coburn

University of California, Berkeley

Gary received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from UC Berkeley then began a 30 year career as a Certified Financial Analyst. He has managed high net worth accounts, public employee and corporate pension funds and fixed income portfolios. In retirement Gary was the assistant high baseball coach at Torrey Pines High School, served on the board of Trustees for The Scripps Research Institute and has served on committees and as President of the RSF Golf Club.

Imad S. Dandan

UC San diego

Dr. Imad S. Dandan, MD, FACS, is a highly trained General Surgeon with dual board certifications in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Currently a Professor of Surgery at Scripps Clinic, he practices as a Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon at Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla. Dr. Dandan began his medical journey at the American University of Beirut in 1983 and has since dedicated himself to clinical excellence, surgical resident training, and clinical research.

Randa H. Dandan

Beirut University

Dr. Randa H. Dandan, Ph.D., is a retired Professor of Pharmacology from UCSD, known for her impactful work in Cardiovascular Physiology. With multiple scientific papers and chapters to her name, she also served as an editor for Goodman and Gilman's Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics. She earned her Ph.D. from Cleveland State University in 1989 after completing her studies at the American University of Beirut.

Brad Galvan

UCLA

Brad retired after spending thirty years (30) as a Federal Agent with the U.S. Department of Justice. Now working as a Counter-Terrorism Consultant with the U.S. Department of State, mentoring foreign national police units develop effective counter terrorism programs.

Dan Henderson

Dan has worked in General Dentistry in Pacific Beach for 46 years. His interests are golf, bridge, reading and travel.

Karen Henderson

Karen has her Master's degree in Education and has served as a teacher and Director of Bridges Learning Center for 14 years. Her interests include tennis, golf, reading, bridge, travel, and cooking.

Gail Kendall

Gail Kendall was employed 20 years with Ticketron; the last decade of which she served as Area Manager, San Diego. She is a founding member and officer of Future Legends; also, President of Community Concerts of RSF. Interests: Golf and fitness/weight training.

Chuck Kendall

Chuck played football on scholarship before building a career in commercial real estate and property development. He's a former Board member of the RSF Foundation, RSF Library Guild and Pasadena Children's Hospital. He enjoys weight training, swimming and golf.

Phillip Larsen

Phillip's career accolades include Computer Programmer, IT Manager, VP of Finance, and General Manager of Europe. He enjoys golf and the stock market.

Carl Larson

Carl A. Larson is a seasoned attorney and partner at Burkhardt & Larson in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, specializing in business law, estate planning, and trust administration with an AV Preeminent Rating by Martindale-Hubbell. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis, and an LL.M. Taxation degree from the University of San Diego. Carl Larson's commitment to community is evident through his leadership as President of the Rancho Santa Fe Rotary Club and his active involvement in various philanthropic endeavors, including supporting the Library Guild of Rancho Santa Fe.

Paloma Larson

Paloma Larson, Esq., is an accomplished attorney admitted to the State Bar of California in January 2021. With a background in Media Studies from UC Berkeley and a J.D. from UCLA School of Law, she has a passion for real estate law and specializes in assisting clients with land sale deals, loan agreement modifications, and legal analyses. In her leisure time, Paloma enjoys hiking, exploring mixed media art, and indulging in her passion for hip hop dance.

Cinda Lucas

Cinda’s extensive career spans both corporate management and public service. Since 2006 she has served as a Life Coach while also being dedicated to organizations ranging from USC Half-Century Club Board to Rancho Santa Fe Rotary and the University of San Diego.

Heather Manion

After growing up in Rancho Santa Fe, Heather graduated from college then served as a Captain in the Army for 16 years. For the past 30 years she has dedicated herself to real estate, been active in the RSF Golf and Tennis Club and a past president of Rotary. As a Mentor, she shares life experiences and adventures as she guides and coaches scholars.

Steve Moreland

University of Oregon, Oregon Health Sciences University

After receiving his medical degree, Steve completed an internship at Scripps Mercy Hospital, a residency in radiology at the UCSD Medical Center then practiced medicine as a radiologist for La Jolla Radiology and Scripps Clinic Medical group for a total of 30 years before retiring. Steve enjoys travel as well as a multitude of hobbies but is most passionate about skiing, surfing, and flyfishing.

Margo Moreland Margo is a retired travel agent/consultant who has organized many lengthy worldwide travel for People to People Travel. She is married to Steve Moreland and has two daughters, Meagan and Heidi, who are currently working in the health care field. Margo enjoys skiing, hiking, and travel.

Beverly is a Wealth Advisor at Jackey/Robinson Group. Her career in Finance includes working with some of the biggest names in banking. Her professional and personal passions intersect by helping people realize their goals for a brighter future.

John Robinson

Coach John is a College Football Hall of Famer best known for coaching the USC Trojans & Los Angeles Rams. His USC teams won 4 Rose Bowls and a national championship. Today, he splits time between broadcasting and philanthropy.

Judy Rowles

Judy started her professional career practicing law in San Diego with an emphasis in real estate. More recently, she focused her real estate knowledge on residential real estate sales. Judy has a long history of volunteering with several San Diego nonprofit organizations including Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, Torrey Pines High School Foundation, Rancho Santa Fe Women’s Fund and Rancho Santa Fe Rotary and Meals on Wheels. Her interests include tennis, hiking and playing bridge.

Steve Rowles

Steve is Partner at the Morrison Foerster Law Firm. He is Chair of the firm’s San Diego Corporate Law Group and firmwide Co-chair of the Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Group. Steve currently serves on the Board of Directors for both EvoNexus San Diego and the San Diego Blood Bank and previously on the Boards of the Jacobs Cushman San Diego Food Bank and Cleantech San Diego. Steve is also an adjunct professor at the USD School of Law. He is an avid golfer, a voracious reader, and a family man.
